Then each candidate speaks for up to 10 minutes and then there will be questions for up to 20 minutes. Now in the interests of fairness, I have directed that they should not have access to electronic equipment in the place where they will be because otherwise it would be possible for them to be informed as to the sort of questions which are being asked here and the whole point of them being in purdah is that they should not get any benefit by hearing what is going on. The arrangement, if there is an election, is that the other candidates must withdraw. When candidates are proposed and seconded, no speeches, it is just simply to propose and second them.
If there are, and later seconded, then we will move into an election. If there are not any then the Chief Minister’s candidate will be appointed.
